Ingredients

1/2 cup  cashews

1 teaspoon  maple syrup

1 cup water

1 1/2 teaspoon agar agar powder

1 teaspoon basil (dried)

1 teaspoon oregano (dried)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 teaspoon potato starch

1 teaspoon garlic granules

3 tablespoons  nutritional yeast

1 tablespoon cider vinegar

Oil, to brush the cheese molds

Herbs and spices can be added to taste (paprika, thyme, dill, black pepper)

Directions

Place cashews in hot water and let them sit for 1 hour.

In a blender or food processor, add cashews (drained), garlic granules, nutritional yeast, maple syrup, potato starch, cider vinegar, basil, oregano, salt and half of the water.

Blend for approximately 1 minute or until well incorporated into a paste.

Mix agar agar powder and the rest of the water. Over medium heat, combine the agar agar mixture along with the cashew cream you already prepared and bring to a boil. Stir the mixture constantly to avoid sticking at the bottom of the pan.

Testy Vegan Cheese Recipe

Slightly oil your cheese molds or circle baking pans and pour in your cheese mixture.

Place in refrigerator for 2 hours before serving.

Serve with salty crackers or bread sticks. It should be smooth and easy to spread much like a cream cheese. Add herbs or paprika for extra taste.
